
[Student Activity] 3rd English Melody SONG English Singing Contest
Event Objective:
To enhance students' interest in learning English, boost their confidence in language expression and performance skills, and cultivate teamwork and a sense of honor through English singing. This event aims to inspire students' motivation to learn English.
* Organizer: Bilingual Education Promotion Center, Office of Academic Affairs
* Co-organizer: Extracurricular Activities Section, Student Affairs Office
* Eligibility:All currently enrolled students who are taking Freshman or Sophomore English courses under the Day Division Undergraduate Program in Academic Year 114-1 are eligible to participate. Teams must consist of 3 to 5 members, and teams may not be formed across different classes.
Competition Timeline:
1. Preliminary Selection:Week 7 to Week 14 (October 27, 2025 to December 19, 2025)Teachers will conduct internal class selections to choose one team to represent each class in the finals.
2. Finals Registration and Submission:Week 15 (December 22, 2025 to December 26, 2025)Participating teams must upload their video performances and send their registration details along with the video URL to the organizer.
3. Finals Evaluation:Week 16 (December 29, 2025 to January 2, 2026)
4. Results Announcement:January 7, 2026 (Wednesday)
Scoring Criteria:
* English Pronunciation: 30%
* Pitch, Rhythm, and Tone Quality: 20%
* Singing Technique: 20%
* Stage Presence and Overall Performance: 20%
* Creativity: 10%
Competition Method and Submission Instructions:
1. Preliminary Round:In the preliminary stage, English course instructors will select representative teams from their classes.
2. Finals Submission:The finals will be held online. Participating teams must upload their video performance to YouTube or Google Drive before the submission deadline. The video link and registration details should be sent to:

3. Finals Video Requirements:The video must include two songs:
* One designated song
* One self-chosen song
Both songs must be in English and relate to a Christmas theme.The list of designated songs is as follows:
* Ed Sheeran & Elton John-Merry Christmas
* Wham! - Last Christmas
* Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You
* Sabrina Carpenter - santa doesn’t know you like i do
* Taylor Swift - Christmas Tree Farm

* OneRepublic - Dear Santa
4. Video Length:Each submitted video must be between 1 to 3 minutes long. All participants in the video must clearly show their faces, and facial coverings (such as wearing a mask) are not allowed, to ensure fairness in the competition.
5. Performance Accompaniment:Performances may be accompanied by background music or instruments, but the focus must remain on the vocal performance. The singer’s voice should not be overshadowed by the accompaniment.
6. Submission Email Subject:The subject of the registration email must clearly state:“3rd English Melody SONG English Singing Contest - [Team Name],” and the email should include the following information:

7. Finals Review and Evaluation:After all registrations and submissions are completed, the final round of videos will be reviewed and evaluated.
Competition Rewards:
The top three teams in the finals, along with two honorable mentions, will receive certificates.
Notes:
1. Copyright and Intellectual Property:Submitted works must not be plagiarized or infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others. Participants are fully responsible for any related legal matters.
2. Consent for Use:By participating in this competition, all participants agree to grant the organizer permission to use their names, images, text, and video recordings for non-commercial purposes, including but not limited to display at on-campus or off-campus events, posting on websites or social media platforms, reproduction, and transmission.
3. No Return of Submission Materials:All submitted materials will not be returned. Participating teams are advised to keep backup copies of their submissions.
4. Personal Data Protection:The organizer will collect, process, and use the personal data provided by participants (including names, student IDs, contact information, etc.) in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act. This data will only be used for event-related communication and result announcements.
